Mentoring Co-ordinator

Do you want to improve outcomes for Young People with Down syndrome and help them integrate successfully into the community? If so then you may be exactly who we are looking for.
Foyle Down Syndrome Trust is seeking to appoint an empathetic, highly organised individual to join us as Mentoring Coordinator. This is part of an exciting initiative to encourage and empower our young people with Down syndrome aged 8-25 years old to enjoy and engage in new, inclusive social and recreational opportunities in their community.

You will have previous experience of working with young people with a learning disability, having successfully empowered them to move towards independence. You will be required to train and support volunteers to be mentors for our young people, involving project participants, their support networks and communities in the planning, coordinating and delivery of a range of activities that will improve their confidence and help them successfully integrate into the community. You will be a strong, clear communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with community groups and other agencies to achieve agreed outcomes.

This post is Fixed Term for 4 years, based in Derry~Londonderry. Salary £22,537 plus pension, 30 hours per week, and is subject to an Enhanced Access NI check.
