Genetic Disorders UK aim to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic conditions. An important step in making this vision a reality is to raise awareness among the general public of different genetic disorders and how they impact on the lives of those affected.
Each year, Genetic Disorders UK organises the national fundraising event, Jeans for Genes Day, when they encourage everyone to wear their jeans to work or school in exchange for a small donation. The monies raised on Jeans for Genes Day are then used to provide grants to disorder-specific charities and to fund the work of Genetic Disorders UK. They hope that by raising as much money as possible on Jeans for Genes Day this year, they can increase the number of grants they provide and launch much-needed support services.
